Where is powertimes.com?
There have been no new issues published in quite some time and due to our professional obligations (and our private life) it seems unlikely that there will be other issues in the future. Therefore we decided to save the cost for an own site for PowerTimes and integrate it with www.raksoft.ch - the site of the creator and owner of PowerTimes.
We keep this page online so that interested people can download past issues. And we may even add some content over time.
We would like to thank all our readers, subscribers, advertisers and sponsors for their support and interest over the years. But above all, we would like to thank our authors for their work. Without them, there would not have been a single issue! THANK YOU! It has been an exciting adventure!
Our slogan, coined by our long time author and friend Boris Gasin:

The PowerTimes publishers:
Rolf André Klaedtke and Mark Lansing

PowerTimes was first published in October 1994 as the newsletter of the Swiss PowerBuilder User Group by Rolf André Klaedtke. Later, Mark Lansing joined Rolf André and it became an international journal for Client/Server and Internet / Intranet development, focusing on PowerBuilder, Power++ and PowerJ from Sybase. Not only did we cover these tools, but PowerTimes also provided developers with other vital information to get their job done. For example Use Case Analysis and UML, GUI design, management issues and useful third party tools.
Along the way we found many new friends and learned a lot. But PowerTimes had become a lot of work, too. The administration of subscriptions, the website, finding articles... all this grew into a lot more than just a small side-job. Over time it became more and more difficult to receive good quality articles because many of our long-time authors either ran out of topics or simply needed a break.
In 1997 and 1998 we already thought about stopping to publish PowerTimes, but the huge wave of support convinced us to continue. However, to cut down the administration work and to increase our potential reader (and author) base as well as the number of companies potentially interested in advertising in PowerTimes, we had decided to publish PowerTimes for free and to open it for other tools and technologies instead of concentrating on the Sybase toolset.
The last issue of PowerTimes was published in March/April 2003.
